Subscribing to this blog via RSS

Some people find that the problem with blogs is that they forget to visit them often enough. However, if you would like to automatically receive updates to this website into Outlook, ensuring you never miss a post, it can be very easily sorted.

In the top right hand corner of this blog, you will see this icon: RSS Feed Icon

RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’ and it’s a common standard for sharing blog feeds with other websites and applications. If you right click that icon – either the one in the top right or the one in this post – and choose ‘Open in new tab’ (this message may slightly differ depending on your browser), it will open a new page that shows you the first few lines of each post to the blog. At the top of the page, you will see a square icon then “Subscribe to this feed using” and then a pull down menu as follows:

Subscribe to this feed using Microsoft Outlook

Use the pull down to select Microsoft Office Outlook, then hit the ‘Subscribe Now’ button. If Outlook is not already open, it will start and display the following dialogue box:

Outlook RSS Add Dialogue Box

Click ‘Yes’ and the blog feed will now appear in an Outlook folder entitled RSS Feeds. You can do the same thing for other blogs in the DMU Commons!
